BRAIDED HAIR AFRICAN BRAIDS
African braids: a hairstyle for everyone
The great thing about African braids is that they're suitable for all hair types, colors and lengths (they're just not recommended for people suffering from alopecia). You can choose to wear them for a special occasion, like a party, or on a daily basis, as they'll last for years to come.
However, for the experience to be a success, you need to be informed before you start braiding. First of all, it's advisable to entrust this task to a hairdresser specialized in African braids, who will be able to adapt his or her technique and advice to your hair type. African braids should be kept in place for between 4 and 6 weeks, with a 15-day break between braids to avoid damaging the hair.
In fact, even when braided, you need to take special care of your hair by washing and drying it properly (see an article on the subject here). Don't hesitate to ask your hairdresser for advice on the best tricks to use, such as sleeping with a scarf to protect your braids.
The professional who does the braiding will be best placed to give good advice, depending on the hairstyle chosen, the type of hair and whether or not extensions are used.
